Google Cardboard, Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality :)

Me and my team just created something πŸ™‚

We combined Google Cardboard, Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality.

Here is what we come up πŸ™‚ Download the app here

install the app, it will open a your mobile phone camera with split view (stereoscopic mode) then let is see image target below (CLSU logo)

image_tracker_vbuttons

Noticed the colored squares (with rounded corner) – yes they are buttons – try pointing your finger on any of it and notice the TEXT below the interface is identifying which button is selected/pressed. Note: the button will react only if the camera (mobile/tablet) is from around 12 to 20 inches away from the image target.

Bonus: Hand tracking (at basic as of the moment) You can tickle the logo – simply poke it and it will move depending on the direction and speed of the tickle/poke.

We will create a video of it soon πŸ™‚

New 3D Environment Designs for Virtual Reality using Google Cardboard

My team is having fun creating more virtual reality apps for google card board, screenshots below:

The 3d environment and models are created using Blender3D and 3DMax (bake map then add additional real-time lighting for more realistic ambiance)

UP Diliman 3d virtual tour at 3dxploration.com

Once again, team artsdigitalmedia.com made another 3d interactive virtual tour, and this time its the University of the Philippines, Diliman famous shrine.

Actually, the 3d file pattern came from 3D Philippines Initiative which is in Sketchup format for Google Earth. We extract the 3d file and rebuilt it using open source 3d authoring tools & utilities to comply with the web browser standards, then we program it using simulation engines for the collision & physics features.

We are hoping that all Pilipino will support our project http://3dxploration.com/ for this venture is created for every Pilipino.

> Once loaded, select for either “Master Server”(recommended) or “IP Direct Connection” (option only in case u can’t use master server)
> On Master Server – click “Start Server” then wait for other computers/players within your Local Area Network (LAN) to see a server is running (refresh/retest connection) and join in when they see a new button with an IP address (of the server) – then click “Network” and voila – gameON!!!

> On IP Direct Connection – click “Start Server” – then give your IP address to other players on the LAN. – other players will type-in the servers IP then click connect – and voila – gameON!!!

Whats surprising is.. this entire 3d application only took me less than 3 weeks (2-3 hours a day) to work with while at my very busy working scheduleΒ  of course with a little help from my colleagues πŸ™‚

Preview: 3rd person game – 3d character in flash environment

Me and my team (artsdigitalmedia.com) are now into mobile apps/games development (play using Ipad, Iphone, Ios, & Anroid Phones/Tablets). This is our sample of a 3rd person 3d game, basically its on initial development stage (there are lots of things to be fixed and work with, well its a heck but its fun doing crappy things on gamedev)..

You may use keyboard keys: W, E, A, S, D and space to interact (walk/animate). though this may load sometime its actually a 3MB data download time, around 2-3 minutes loading on slow internet connection.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

Augmented Reality

Augmented Reality inside Flash (so called FLAR) – this is the technology behind NINTENDO WII. The tech makes the camera analyze the real world or the things it sees, and produces what is programmed with it. And with this sample we will show 3d objects once the camera see the marker (photo below).

Make sure you have working web camera attached to use this interface. Print the photo (marker) below and show it at the web camera. You will see 3d objects will pop out (laptops) and this 3d objects will follow the coordinates of the photo (marker) πŸ™‚ COOL.. try swaying the photo marker using ur hands πŸ™‚

NOTE: 3D OBJECTS MAY TAKE SOMETIME TO LOAD, SO PLEASE WAIT A WHILE πŸ™‚

CLSU Virtual Tour – Main Gate (daytime edition)

Moving forward… The CLSU webteam with the help of team artsdigitalmedia.com [headed by artpologabriel & dexter jay bago] created the virtual tour for Central Luzon State University, this is just the beginning of their task to completely capture the entire CLSU campus in 3d interactive interface. Upon winning the ESIHAS Best Website last year, the CLSU web team is even more eager to provide further and better web services and interface. The virtual tour interface is hosted at 3dxploration.com server which is designed for 3d interactive features and server load.

Again, we are hoping that everyone from CLSU supports the CLSU website and its interfaces.

This virtual tour technology actually cost Php 200,000.00 ++ (see http://www.aarkid.com/about/pricing/) if will be outsourced to service providers, but due to the skill of CLSU Web Team with the help from Team ARTSDIGITALMEDIA.COM they made it almost FREE of cost.
