Global Game Jam 2013

global game jam 2013

The Global Game Jam will be on January 25-27, 2013 – I applied for site to host a small group here in Central Luzon State University. Hoping that the GGJ people will let us join this world wide cool activity.

About GGJ

The Global Game Jam (GGJ) is the world’s largest game jam event. Think of it as a hackathon focused on game development. It is the growth of an idea that in today’s heavily connected world, we could come together, be creative, share experiences and express ourselves in a multitude of ways using video games – it is very universal. The weekend stirs a global creative buzz in games… while at the same time exploring the process of development, be it programming, iterative design, narrative exploration or artistic expression. It is all condensed into a 48 hour development cycle. Although the event is heavily focused on programming, there are many other areas where people who don’t code can contribute to a game. Only 1 out of 10 computer science graduates employable – IT experts

I been telling this… most of the graduated IT students who undergo OJT with us, really don’t have the needed knowledge to make it BIG in IT. The curriculum seems not the problem but the students itself along with the non-supporting & accommodating instructors.  I will let the article do the talking…

Only 1 out of 10 computer science graduates employable – IT experts

MANILA – Silicon Valley-trained Filipino software gurus said only 10 percent of information technology or computer science graduates are hireable – a reflection of the sorry state of the country’s IT education.

During the 4th International Outsourcing Summit on Thursday, experts said the Philippines must produce “hireable” graduates so it can get a bigger slice of the entire software development market. Continue reading

CLSU: 1st university website with 3dFXtransition

Have you seen Central Luzon State University CLSU official website? well, please visit it at url http://clsu.edu.ph/ – Ohh just like the same other website? yes at first.. but when you try clicking on divs & elements- you will see 3d fx transitions. The entire page will skew & rotate according to the dimension of the zoomed elements.

We use new 3d transition FX for the development the new of CLSU website design for this year(2012), Our team is actually always researching & developing new things for each of our projects, with CLSU website we used CSS matrix 3d and transitions (jquery plugins, javascripts, etc).

The site is best viewed using Safari and looks good in Firefox & Chrome, and on IE (nobody uses IE anymore, right? joke) it wont show the new design, perhaps the old one will show up.

Mobile Web :)

Team artsdigitalmedia.com is now continue on our venture on mobile web & application development.

The crave for website versions for mobile phones and devices is getting furious due to the mass production of low cost mobile gadgets and the availability of WIFI Zone in most areas.  This 2013 most users even here in the Philippines will be using their handheld devices to browse the internet on the go, not just to simply search and socialized but also to do their work related tasks.

Most companies around the globe is now also looking into this technology to further improve their company promotion, reach more clients and monitor their employees, also to boost their sales and market.

Multi-user application using Unity3d

I been doing 3d interactive for almost 7 years now and yes, its been really hard to create one. You have to do 3d modeling, rigging, animation, export to compliant format properly, then the hardest thing of all – the coding to make it interactive or a game, then compile for web or offline based application.

Recently, i explored Unity3d and it gives me more power – rapid development – because in less time i  finished my application than other software I used before. Well, unity3d is a game engine – and not a 3d modeling app &  you still have to know Object Oriented Programming (C++/Javascript/Java/Python/As3 or Boo hehehe).  But unity3d has a GUI (like blender3d which is also one of the best software for free) that makes it quite easier than only imagining the 3d scene & objects using a text editors IDE alone.

In just 1-2 weeks i have deployed a simple multi-player 3d game. Yes, its not yet done, but the functionality is almost done. Building a network application really takes heck of time and efforts but with unity3d i can say that “i finally found the one” hehe. Back then it takes months for the same thing/output.

Well, please try my unfinished but working multiplayer 3d game created using unity3d.

Instruction, download and play – see “network.exe” run it –  click start server, copy the zipped file  to another computer with the same network, then type-in the IP address (replace the 192.168.10.1 with the server’s IP address) – then voila – you will see each other’s player (a box that will move & shoot using  WASD & Space keys). By the way there will be lots of gray cube (enemies with programmed Artificial Intelligence & rigidbody/physics) that will chase your player – enemies can be shoot but wont die for now hehehe

try it now – download here!

Web-based 3d interactive interface is now cheap!

Back then only BIG Companies and Corporations can avail 3d technology for websites such as 3d interactive interface. Now, using Combined Open Source Technology, Team artsdigitalmedia.com offers LOW COST development services with the same technology and aesthetic interface.

Artsdigitalmedia.com’s prices is 50% lower than the other technology service provider  [example the AARKID.COM,  www.oopsdigital.com, www.panoround.com, www.schlager.at , www.gagliano.at, www.interdevice.com.br, www.virgorv.com.br, www.schlager.at, www.gagliano.at, www.panoround.com, www.frolixdesign.com, www.kisp.com, www.massinfo.com.

(e.g. compare pricing of AARKID (common price of the above mentioned other technology service providers) at url http://aarkid.com/3d-prices.html and http://artsdigitalmedia.com/pricelist.php from Philippines).

Also, artsdigitalmedia.com has two (2) options/versions available, both JAVA & FLASH environments, (not just JAVA3d) where clients can choose which technology will fit on their requirements.
