Arroyo not happy over new wiretap incident

ANGELES CITY, Pampanga – President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is “not happy” about the circulating “Garci 2 tape” involving her Cabinet man and a poll official. “I’m sure she is not happy about it,” Secretary Ronaldo Puno of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) who was allegedly involved with the taped conversation, told a press briefing at the Audio-Visual Room of the Angeles University Foundation (AUF) Professional Schools in this city where the Cabinet meeting was held. In the circulating alleged taped conversation, Puno was talking to Comelec Commissioner Nicodemo Ferrer allegedly discussing how to manipulate the results of the May 10 automated local and national elections. Puno said those behind the Garci 2 tape were just trying to “cast doubt” on what the Congress is doing in fulfilling its constitutional mandate to proclaim the winners in both presidential and vice presidential races. “This is a deliberate attempt to derail the proclamation of winners and I hope that the people won’t allow this to happen,” he said.
